Default Deldrimor Weapons and the Hall of Monument's Monument of Valor

To max the Hall of Monuments, one must fill the appropriate shrine with:

16.7% of all Hero/Animal Companions (Fellowship)
22.7% of all Minatures (excluding Gaile's Frogs) (Devotion)
9.6% of all maxed Titles/Accomplishments (Honor)
25% of all Elite Armor sets (Resilience)
50% of all Destroyer/Tormented Weapons (Valor)

Of the five monuments, the Monument of Valor is the most restrictive of what can be added. One has the least amount of choice in what he/she can add to the Monument of Valor compared to all other monuments; he/she can only add Destroyer and Tornmented weapons.

Thus, I suggest that crafted Deldrimor weapons (the crafted gold weapons, rather than the collector green ones) can be added to the Monument of Valor. This will do a few things:

1. Add greater variablility (also flexibility) in what one can add to the Monument of Valor. Intead of just being able to add Tormented or Destroyer weapons, 11 new weapons can be added making it so that to fill up the monument, 33% of these "higher end" weapons need to be added, rather than 50%.

2. It allows for people who only have certain campaigns to fill his/her monument easier. If one only has Prophecies and EotN, then as of yet, he/she can only add Destroyer weapons, lest that person purchase Tormented weapon(s) from a different player. In adding Deldrimor weapons, such people can now craft Destroyer and Deldrimor weapons to add, giving them more flexibility.

3. It increases the number of skins that can be added. Some people don't favor the look of Destroyer weapons (or Tormented weapons) too much, meaning that if they want to fill this monument they are either forced to craft weapons that they don't like the skin of, or be forced to fill with Tormented weapons. Adding Deldrimor weapons, increases the pool of skins added, allowing people to craft/purchase weapons for the HoM that he/she likes more.

Allowing Deldrimor weapons to be added makes sense both in the practical and lore senses:

1. To craft Deldrimor weapons, one must have completed Prophecies, similar to Destroyer and Tormented weapons, to which to craft one must have completed EotN and Nightfall respectively.

2. Deldrimor weapons aren't super cheap. At current trader prices, to craft a Deldrimor weapon, it would cost one ~20-22k, whereas to craft a Destroyer weapon it would cost one only a few platinum more (~2-3). The price of Deldrimor weapons would probably increase a few platinum if they could be added to the HoM since the prices in Steel and Deldrimor Steel would prbably increase (which could reduce the price in Diamonds, Onyx, and Granite as the economic stress on these materials would be shifted as some people would instead craft Deldrimor weapons - Iron might remain the same as some people might use it to craft Deldrimor Steel or Steel). Overall, the prices of crafting materials wouldn't shift too much, keeping Deldrimor weapons at the same price as Destroyer weapons.

3. From a lore standpoint, allowing Deldrimor weapons to be added makes sense. Tormented and Destroyer weapons are viewed as "powerful weapons," as such statements are made from the distributors of these weapons, like the Deacon of Whispers. Similarly, Deldrimor weapons are crafted from "the finest Deldrimor weaponsmiths" (King Jalis Ironhammer), to which Deldrimor weapons are recieved as some of the finest crafted weapons, which goes along with the Monument of Valor's "only the greatest weapons may be displayed here."

In short, it isn't much more cost effective nor easier to craft Deldrimor weapons compared to the current Destroyer weapons, and as adding Deldrimor weapons to the Monument of Valor increases variablility to what can be added (especially skin-wise) and how Deldrimor weapons meet the lore component, one should be allowed to add Deldrimor weapons to the HoM.

I would love to hear any feedback you might have, but as always, explain if you agree or disagree with this idea; provide warrants as to why Deldrimor weapons should or should not be added. If "signing" to the idea, you could agree with the warrants I provide, or you could provide your own, but if disagreing, please explain exactly why allowing these weapons to be added would be a bad idea

Won't happen, but I like the skin of the deldrimor weapons better than destroyer and even some of the tormented weapons. I also agree the HoM is super restrictive on the weapons allowed to be displayed. I thought it would have been better to allow any weapon to be displayed as long as you killed like 20,000 things with it. This could be made possible by having a kill count applied to a weapon of your choice. This idea sounded better than buying a torm or destroyer weapon to display that you dont really even like. But yeah, being able to display deldrimor weapons would be cool.

Kill count sounds very nice but seems to me a bit difficult to code this in the game. What is a kill do you have to be the last one to damage a foe and kill it or will it be enough that you are in the party that killed it. And how about a just healing/prot monk, when was the last time he killed anything.

Agreed but, yeah, won't happen. This never made sense to me. The HOM is supposed to be a collection of your heroic stuff so not allowing you to display your favorite often used weapons just doesn't fit with whole idea. Its like Arthur displaying some sword he picked up along the way but he can't display Excalibur. Anyway, just my two cents...

Agreed.
I don't like Tormented weapons. And only a few Destroyer weapons.
I want MY favorite things displayed there. lol.
Sadly they probably won't change it.

I would love this. Totally, totally agree. For all the reasons you said, and one additional one:

It's really limiting to have only one of a weapon type available to display-- for example, a Destroyer Bow is a Destroyer Bow, regardless of whether it's a Flatbow or Shortbow, how it's inscribed, etc. In spite of the fact that different types actually do somewhat different things.

My primary character is a Ranger, and I can get quite a bit of utility out of different bows. I could easily have 4-5 different bows and actually use them all. But because the Monument will only allow me to display 2 bows (1 Destroyer, 1 Tormented) I have to spend money and/or time on weapons that will actually not be particularly useful instead of ones that would.

If I could display a third bow, it would add to my ability to display weapons for my own class, and would increase the usefulness of Monument weapons in general for me.

Not sure if that would apply to other classes-- I assume somewhat at least?-- but as a Ranger, I would love to be able to display a third bow, not just the current two.

I never really thought of that. I would support this change just for that reason.

I would like another set of high end craftable weapons being able to be added to the HoM, mainly for reasons already posted. Whether that be Deldrimor or a new set I wouldn't mind. /signed.

It's only making filling HoM easier. Unnecessarily easier. It doesn't solve anything at all. This monument still remains very lame, restrictive and not well thought at all. And Deldrimor weapons do not belong there. Simple craftable EotN weapons like Asuran or Norn are harder to get.

What this monument should allow instead is a large pool of high end rare weapon drops from the whole world of GW, on top of the 2 crafted sets which are there already. But forming a list of what would and what wouldn't go would also be not easy as somebody would always feel their favorite weapon belongs there aswell. The key is not to listen to those but concentrate on making a list based on difficulty to get those weapons. Too easy = not going in.

/not signed, wrong way.

I filled all 11 weapons with Destroyer weapons. Every single one is on a hero, and only 1 of those heroes sees regular use. We don't yet know what having ANYTHING, much less the weapons, will give us in GW2. Until we do, who cares what you have to do to fill it up, as long as it isn't beyond normal play time/ability. Unless you take people in to see your HoM (and I dont' know why anyone would bother) only you will see what is displayed.

And you seem to be leaving Factions out when mentioning those who only have Prophecies and Eye of the North getting another option. Those who only have Factions and Eye of the North only get one, so why don't you ask for Factions to get a weapon to add to the HoM as well?

/unsigned - until they make it hard to fill the HoM

because those weapons have to be crafted at the end of a long, tedious boring mission at the end of a long tedious boring campaign with about 10k ish worth of mats, and 10k right?

some people just like to collect stuff. like achievements. for their own fun, not necessarily future rewards or bragging about it to friends. titles and statues are pretty much similar.

it wouldn't require only to allow crafted faction weapons to get into HoM, but also make an npc in the divine path that would craft them. there are no gold weapons at the end of factions.
